![]() Despite being mentally female, Robin is physically male and presents to the world as such. She is very pale, silvery-blue eyes, and white hair, there is a line of stitches running along the left side of her face all the way down her arm and hand. The arm looks like it's been stitched back together and forced onto her body. A pale, half-elf shiftlling, she turns into something like a humanoid beetle. Two, bone like antennae. Skin darkens to a deep red and looks akin to ball jointed carapace, shoulders and joints have ridges. A set of insect wings, segmented into three. Her shadow when flying can look like a butterfly, but she's far more frightful than that. The frankensteined arm would not change with her though, as it's not actually part of her body. She's never seen without an old, rusted dagger and a locket she keeps under her shirt. ![]() ![]() |
![]() » Submissive - Robin tends to come off as far more weak and unassuming than she really is, mostly because of how easily she lets people get away with treating her poorly. Between overly controlling parents and a domineering master, she can be talked into most things, if not outright bullied. She absolutely will not let herself be used in a way that will hurt someone else, but she can be wrangled into jobs and favors that she may not particularly want to do. » Self Sacrificial - When it comes to safety, or food, or comfort, Robin will always put others before her in terms of need and deservance. Words of concern are generally met with a dismissive smile. She will throw herself in front of someone else, or right into the middle of battle without heed for how badly she can be hurt. She wants to help everyone if she can, whoever and whenever she can, and to hell with what it could cost her in the process. It's to the point where she refuses to fight in a way that will hurt anything that's not a demon or a monster, even if she ends up hurt because of it. There is part of her that does want to die. She's in so much pain, but she has too much to accomplish first. And even that goal is for the sake of everyone else. She has too many souls to save. » Hard Headed - Despite her more docile exterior, Robin can be ten thousand degrees of stubborn when it comes to her desire to protect others and accomplishing her goals. It doesn't happen often, but this is where her innate submissiveness melts away and she'll absolutely start calling people out on their bullshit when it's putting themselves or others into danger. It also shows up a bit when she's being a knowitall (on purpose or not). She will exposit information to her own distraction, which doesn't always go well for her. » Soft Hearted - Polite to everyone she meets, Robin will go out of her way to show people that most wouldn't consider deserving kindness and mercy. She tries to be gentle and sweet, and non-judgemental wherever possible. She has the capability to love and empathize with people in a way most don't understand, and might find unsettling, including strangers. While she rarely lets others get close to her, she's easily moved to tears by witnessing others pain or joy. » Guilt Ridden - While her body may technically be alive, she doesn't particularly consider herself so. Julia died. Robin died. She is some abomination that was created with parts of them both. She's not even sure what she should even consider herself at this point, but it's not something deserving. She regrets that she hadn't been able to stand up to her parents, for going along with all the horrible things they made her do. If she hadn't died the way she did, her brother wouldn't have been manipulated and killed. The weight of her guilt is soul crushing, and she hasn't been able to even begin forgiving herself for it. It makes it hard for her to connect to others on a meaningful level. ![]() » Born a half-elf girl named Julia, her family was relatively wealthy and had given her all she could want, except any real freedom. They believed her god-blessed -claiming Usir- because her left arm was very pale, with a crystal of some sort embedded in the back of her hand (cannonly it's shaped like a cross, but can be something more appropriate for here). They believed that she was going to be the one to 'pass judgement' on the evils blighting their world. Starting at 8 years old, her parents and the group they were part of, tried in many ways to force her to access the power they were convinced she had. Hurting her always came the closest, where her arm would start to glow and change but she could never hold it for long. » Eventually, a younger brother was born they named Robin, whom she absolutely adored. It was discovered by the time he was five years old that Robin carried the shiftling curse, which caused a rift between their parents that never fully healed as each blamed the other's bloodline for it. Julia had overheard their plans to kill the boy and rid themselves of his evil, and she was having none of it. It was her desire to protect him that finally caused everything to fall into place, and she was able to invoke a huge, bone plated arm, massive hand tipped with scythelike fingers. To appease Julia and to ensure her cooperation, Robin was banished into the attic under the guise of needing to keep him secret or others may come for him. So Robin grew up never being able to see the world outside of his attic, but Julia would come visit often. She was the only one who ever visited him, but she would bring books and stories and gifts. They grew very close, and he was always source of cheer for her. Despite his mischievous nature, he was still a very good person at heart, and he loved his sister deeply. » With her arm taking the form of a massive claw, the thought became that her judgement is meant to be passed through its use as a weapon. The group/cult starts bringing her caged 'monsters' that need to be judged and cleansed, people they claimed to be weres or dhampir, anyone they considered evil. Most if not all of them didn't seem like monsters to her, just frightened people. They manipulated her by promising that Usir had already cast judgment on their souls, and the claw would only hurt them if they were found wanting. She tried very hard to believe it, but if she was truly blessed by Usir, shouldn't she know what that judgement is? Was anything they've been telling her true at all? When she finally tried to refuse them, they threatened Robin. That's when she started realizing just how much she didn't matter to them, only her arm and what it can do. » She eventually worked out a plan with Robin where they would both run away, but before they had a chance to put it into play, her father came for her and packed her into a carriage. For the first time, she was taken out to where a malevolent creature lived, out onto a lake where some something had been sinking ships. They'd believed that all she needed was to destroy something actually frightening and it would bring her in line. It's what her arm was meant for after all, but they were sorely mistaken. She had no idea how to defend herself or anyone else when they were attacked. She managed to claw it, but it grabbed her arm and dragged her under the water, drowning her before tearing her apart. » In a fit of almost crazed desperation, her father was able to retrieve the part of her torso that still had her left arm. Calling in the rest of the organization, they devised a plan to revive Julia by stitching her arm back together and attaching it to another body, hopefully binding her soul to it. The only 'disposable' body they had was Robin. Figuring that if they can get the transference to work with the shifter, they could find her a more appropriate body later. They lied to Robin, using his love for his sister as a way to manipulate him as they had done with her. They told him she had died, but because he loved her so much, he would be the one that could bring her back. He would get to see her again if he just did what they told him. The alchemical process killed him, ripping his soul out of his body so hers could inhabit it instead. It worked. Julia was back, but she didn't come back alone. A demonic, shadow demon took advantage of the flaws in the spellwork, attaching itself to Julia and taking control of her body and killing everyone in the room. The demon never makes it out of the house, though, as someone who was far more adept in these situations had followed from the lake after hearing about what happened. He manages to burn a seal into the boy's forehead, allowing Julia to take control again. » Julia is traumatised, unable to speak. They remain in that house, where the man, Cross, explains what he believes to have happened. It turns out most of the people her father had her 'cast judgement' on were only suspected of evil. Some perhaps were just rivals he'd wanted out of the way. But Cross also tells her that there are others like her, members of The Black Order, and that her arm is truly meant to fight darkness and to save the world. He gives her a choice. He can kill her, which may release the demon, or she can live and make amends for what happened here. After a time, she approaches and introduces herself as 'Robin' and that 'he' would love to take him up on the offer. Cross manipulates the power in the existing stitches of her arm, running them up her face to the seal as a means to power it and make it permanent. He also rigs it so if the seal ever fails, her arm would then explode in the hopes of killing both her and the demon outright. » For the next few years, Robin acts as Cross' apprentice, who is a far more violent master than those she'd had growing up, but she never complained. They remained in the house per Cross' demand, since Robin had still been listed as an heir who could inherit the estate. Robin protested to no avail and a harsh rebuttal, so she threw herself into caring for Cross and learning what scraps of information she could get out of him and keeping the information in a journal. Most everything he taught her was in a very 'trial by fire' sort of way, from fighting to research. » Cross being a forgetful sort for various reasons, had left alone on a trip to another kingdom. He had intended to bring what he claimed to be an 'old and powerful magic weapon', a dagger called Abadon, with him. Of course had left it behind, and Robin had taken it upon herself to follow and bring it to him. Along the way she ends up fighting a pair of demons, but using her arm too much trains the seal. The Abadon offers its help by throwing itself out of her pack, and taking it up she discovers that while holding it, the seal is able to remain firmly intact. ![]() Please note that if any player chooses to opt-out of interacting with another player or their characters, they must also inform the mod team to avoid random pairing for plots. |
